What is hydro physiotherapy?

Under the guidance of a physiotherapist or exercise physiologist, hydrotherapy physio is a type of therapeutic exercise performed in warm water that employs the distinctive properties of water to alleviate pain and enhance function. This approach reduces the load on weight-bearing joints and creates an environment that promotes relaxation of the muscles and joints, resulting in increased exercise tolerance and range of motion. Hydrotherapy can also use water resistance to augment muscle strength and endurance, achieved through pushing or pulling against the water.

Benefits Include:

  • Reduced pain and inflammation
  • Enjoyment of exercising in a different environment
  • Increased muscle strength
  • Increased joint range of motion and mobility
  • Improved cardiovascular and respiratory health
  • Improved health and wellbeing
