Run Strong

Run Strong Program

8-week program pass - $320 and 12-week program pass - $480

An early morning alarm, quality shoes, good hydration and the perfect playlist – Runners juggle a lot of variables to fine tune their performance. But of course, one of the biggest factors in running well, staying injury-free, and continuing to improve over time is how your body moves.

Whether you’re returning from injury, training for your first race, or chasing a new personal best, the difference often comes down to how well your body can produce, absorb, and control force.
Pivotal Motion’s Run Strong program is designed to help you do exactly that. We combine evidence-based strength and conditioning with running-specific education to help you move better, run stronger, and avoid injury for the long term.

Why Strength and Stability Matter for Runners

Many running injuries aren’t caused by running itself—but by how the body handles the load of running. Common contributing factors include:

  • Poor control through the hips, knees, and ankles
  • Strength imbalances between limbs
  • Reduced ability to absorb and generate force
  • Fatigue-related breakdown in technique

Research shows that targeted strength training can significantly reduce running-related injury risk while also improving performance. Improvements in running economy, musculotendinous stiffness, and force production all contribute to running faster and more efficiently.

In simple terms: a stronger, more stable body allows you to run further, faster, and with less risk of injury.

How the Run Strong Program Improves Your Running

This program goes beyond generic gym work. Run Strong is a structured, small-group training program led by an accredited Exercise Physiologist with both clinical expertise and real-world running experience. Every session is designed to directly translate into better running mechanics and performance.

We’ll help you develop:

  • Strength through key running muscles (glutes, quads, calves)
  • Stability through the hips, knees, and ankles
  • Coordination and control to improve movement efficiency
  • Power and force development for speed and propulsion

You’ll also build an understanding of how your body works when you run—so you can train smarter, not just harder.

Targeted strength and stability training
Directly improve your running performance through a dedicated focus on:

  • Lower limb strength and control
  • Single-leg stability and balance
  • Plyometric and power-based movements
  • Coordination and movement efficiency

Technique and performance education

Learn how to better understand your body and your running mechanics, including:

  • How to optimise force production for speed
  • How to maintain control under fatigue
  • How to reduce injury risk through improved movement patterns

Objective Performance Testing
We’ll use the AXiT muscle strength testing system to helping to identify weaknesses, track progress, and tailor a personalised program to your individual performance data. We take away the guesswork with objective measurements we can reassess and compare over time for your force development, jump and power metrics, and limb symmetry.

Clinical expertise combined with real-world experience
The program is led by our accredited Exercise Physiologist, Sam—also a competitive runner—who combines evidence-based clinic practice with real-world insight to help you train effectively and sustainably.

Program Options to Suit Your Training Cycle
We offer 8-week and 12-week program options, depending on your training background and goals.

  • 12-week program pass – $480 (private health rebates apply)
The clinical ‘gold standard’ for marathon preparation, allowing enough time to bridge the gap between neural gains and structural remodeling, systematically building structural tolerance before layering on maximal strength and explosive power.
  • 8-week program pass – $320 (private health rebates apply)
A highly effective option for runners who already possess high structural tolerance. It remains an optimal window for improving running economy and musculotendinous stiffness, making it a great choice for athletes joining us later in the season.

For both options, the program is designed to peak in intensity during the build phase and transition into a maintenance and neural priming phase as runners reaches their peak mileage and eventual race-day taper.

Pivotal Motion’s performance-focused program for runners

Run Strong is designed to meet you where you’re at and help you progress safely and effectively towards your goals – whether you’re returning to running after injury, preparing for your first fun run, training for longer distances or a marathon, or just looking to improve your performance and hit a new park run PB.
