Effective 11 September 2026.
We think you should know where artificial intelligence sits in the way we run our clinic and our website. This page explains it plainly, and we will keep it current.
AI does not treat you. Your physiotherapist does.
Every clinical decision about your care is made by a physiotherapist or other health practitioner registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra). They use their own professional judgement, based on assessing you in person or by telehealth. That responsibility belongs to a person, and it stays with a person.
We will not use artificial intelligence to diagnose you, to assess you, to decide what treatment you need, to decide whether you need to be seen, or to change your treatment plan.
Where we do use AI: writing up consultation notes
Some of our practitioners use software that helps write up clinical notes. The tools we use for this are Heidi and Lyrebird.
Here is what that means in plain terms. During your appointment the software listens to the conversation and produces a draft set of notes, so that your practitioner can pay attention to you instead of typing. It is a documentation tool. It does not assess you, it does not decide anything about your care, and it does not talk to you.
- We ask you first. Your practitioner will tell you before it is used in your appointment and ask if you are comfortable with it.
- You can say no. You do not need to give a reason, and it will not affect your care or how you are treated in any way. Your practitioner will simply write the notes the usual way.
- A draft is not your record. Your practitioner reads the draft, corrects anything that is wrong, and it is their note. Responsibility for what is in your record stays with them.
- It is part of your clinical record. Notes produced this way are handled exactly like the rest of your health information, under our Privacy Policy.
If you would rather this software was not used in your appointments at all, tell us and we will note that preference on your file.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal and health information generally.
The chat assistant on our website
The chat window on our website is an automated assistant, powered by a service called Chatbase. It is software, not a person, and it is not one of our practitioners. Its answers are general information, not health advice, and it cannot assess you.
Please do not type health details or other sensitive information into it. What you type is sent to Chatbase so the assistant can reply, and it is handled as described in our Privacy Policy. To talk about your own care, phone us on (07) 3352 5116 or email admin@pivotalmotion.com.au.
General information is not personal advice
The health and exercise information on this website is general information for the public. It is not a diagnosis, it is not a treatment plan, and it is not tailored to you, whether or not AI helped us write it. Please do not rely on it in place of seeing a practitioner. If you have pain, an injury, or a health concern, book an appointment or speak with your GP.
If your symptoms are severe or worsening, seek medical attention. In an emergency call 000.
If anything changes, we will tell you
Artificial intelligence in healthcare is moving quickly. If we introduce another tool that deals with you on our behalf, such as an automated phone service, we will update this page before it goes live, and we will make it obvious when you are dealing with software rather than a person.
We review this page at least every 6 months.
Questions
If you have a question or a concern about how we use AI, or you would prefer that we did not use it in relation to your care, please tell us. We will talk it through with you, and we aim to reply within 5 business days.
